Most people are conditioned to believe that all authority exists outside of the self. This is a big block to awakening inner gifts, strengths and talents. For instance we look to doctors to take care of our health, teachers to train our minds, bosses to direct our efforts, the church to tell us about right and wrong, and the media and politicians to tell us about how we should think on important issues.
We have forgotten an ancient truth, that we all have access to an inner wisdom and that this wisdom is the real authority in our lives. This is not a call to being a rebel or ignoring the good advice of others. It means that we always have the final say in how we choose to live.
The message today is that the higher wisdom within you is the true authority that guides your life.

People in authority have their control realized in one of two ways. Either we accept that they should have authority because of our democratic decisions (and even then they have to prove themselves worthy of it), or they use force to over-ride us. The force may be overt, as in a dictatorship, or covert as in the position of the Windsor family and their hangers-on, all the way down to clerks in government offices. In either case, the voice of the individual need not be heard, which can lead to feelings of helplessness, anxiety and depression. Is the only sane way to achieve democracy radical republicanism? Is that a tumbril I hear rolling down the street...?
thanks Michael for your comment....yes it is important to acknowledge our own authority within. Perhaps that way we will begin to feel more comfortable with the apparent authority on the outside, or at least let it go over our head when it is unable to resonate with our own inner intuition about something........
